Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Akihiro Kosaka; hereinafter 'Tokyo Metro') will expand its trial congestion statistics website to all lines and begin full service on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, to deliver more user-friendly congestion information. Alongside enhanced features, Tokyo Metro's overall congestion visualization service will now be collectively branded as 'Metro CrowdNavi'.

Tokyo Metro has been working to visualize train congestion, launching real-time, AI and depth camera-based measurements and predictions of car-by-car congestion via the 'Tokyo Metro my! App' in July 2021. Since December 2024, it has displayed real-time car-level congestion on newly installed concourse displays at Kita-Senju Station on the Chiyoda Line. Additionally, from March 2026, it began a trial web service for three lines—Hibiya, Tozai, and Chiyoda—allowing users to instantly view congestion trends by time and train.

Now, the company will launch a new web platform that graphically displays 5-day average congestion statistics by station, time, and train. It will also release congestion heatmaps covering all lines, enabling users to view overall line congestion on a single screen. The website will also support English.

This enhancement allows customers seeking to avoid congestion to better plan their trips and select less crowded times and trains, improving congestion information delivery tailored to various customer usage scenarios—from trip planning to actual boarding.

Tokyo Metro will continue advancing its congestion visualization initiatives to ensure customers can use the subway with greater comfort and peace of mind.

2. 'Metro CrowdNavi' Concept

Different customers need different congestion information depending on the situation—planning travel times and routes before departure, or selecting less crowded cars during boarding.

Tokyo Metro will continue to process real-time measurement data and predictions into user-friendly congestion information.

The brand's logo uses cerulean blue, symbolizing a clear sky without clouds (Cloud), representing a stress-free, crowd-free (Crowd) in-train environment.

Since stress from congestion can be significantly reduced by knowing congestion patterns in advance, Tokyo Metro encourages customers to use situation-specific congestion information for a safer, more comfortable subway experience.
