Tokyu Power Supply Co., Ltd. (Tokyu Power Supply), in collaboration with Tokyu Corporation, Tokyu Card, Inc., Tokyu Malls Development Corporation, and the Ministry of the Environment's Decarbonization Lifestyle Promotion Office, will launch the 'Summer Electric Vacation Operation 2026' on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
'Summer Electric Vacation Operation 2026' is a behavioral demand response (DR) initiative that encourages power saving by providing cool incentives and experiences at commercial facilities and public spaces during peak electricity demand hours. Tokyu Power Supply has been developing this project with other Tokyu Group companies since 2016. Last year, approximately 180,000 households participated, achieving a total power saving of about 300,000 kWh. This year, the company will expand the number of facilities offering coupons that keep users cool, and will host original horror events (details to be announced later) and complimentary musical invitations to promote a smart lifestyle that is environmentally friendly and cost-effective.
In addition, Tokyu Power Supply has been working on device-controlled DR through the 'Terumaru Denchi Project' launched last year. This project involves installing and leasing home battery storage systems to qualifying households free of charge, with Tokyu Power Supply handling operation and maintenance for the duration of the lease (approximately 10 years). By remotely controlling the charging and discharging of the batteries, customers can reduce their home electricity bills without needing special awareness, while contributing to the stability of the power network.
This fiscal year, the company will combine the traditional behavioral DR of 'Summer Electric Vacation Operation 2026' with the device-controlled DR of the 'Terumaru Denchi Project,' aiming not only to reduce electricity usage but also to supplement power supply using the batteries. Through a comprehensive approach utilizing Tokyu Group's assets, the company aims to support customers' household budgets and contribute to CO2 emission reduction through efficient electricity utilization.
The Tokyu Group promotes its 'Environmental Vision 2040' under the concept of 'Everyday life moves the future,' aiming to realize a 'community in harmony with the environment.' Going forward, the company will continue to advance initiatives where each customer's daily actions and utilization of facilities lead to total societal decarbonization and energy optimization, promoting sustainable community building in harmony with the environment.
[Appendix] Overview of 'Summer Electric Vacation Operation' This project has been held since 2016 to encourage 'cool sharing' at commercial facilities and public spaces during peak demand. Since 2024, it has been integrated with the 'Summer Power Saving Program,' incorporating 'Power Saving Times' notified by email the previous day to encourage lower power consumption at home, continuously expanding benefits. Last year's project saw approximately 180,000 households participate, achieving a total savings of 300,000 kWh.
Currently, rising electricity prices due to soaring fuel costs are a concern for household budgets ahead of the high-demand summer season. Additionally, with the expanded introduction of renewable energy, electricity surpluses during peak solar power hours have become evident, leading to instability in supply-demand balance due to output fluctuations. The Tokyu Group is promoting this initiative to contribute to solving these issues.
