Goldwin Inc., Toray Industries, Inc., and Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. have established a low-carbon supply chain for nylon fiber using renewable raw materials. In building the supply chain, they applied the mass-balance approach to replace some raw materials traditionally derived from fossil fuels with renewable ones, utilizing the existing facilities of the three companies to produce the nylon fiber. This initiative aims to decarbonize the nylon fiber supply chain.

The nylon fiber produced in this project will be adopted in selected products of the outdoor brand 'THE NORTH FACE,' operated by Goldwin, and is scheduled to be sold sequentially starting in early August 2026. Future expansion to other brands managed by Goldwin is also under consideration.

The nylon fiber produced using the mass-balance approach possesses properties equivalent to conventional nylon 6, allowing for post-use collection and recycling.

Goldwin, the project owner, along with Toray and Idemitsu, who are responsible for various stages of the supply chain, aim to contribute to decarbonization through this partnership. They are committed to proactively advancing initiatives to reduce environmental impact in the material sector and striving for the early realization of a low-carbon society.

Additionally, in this supply chain construction, Neste Oyj, a Finnish energy company engaged in the biofuel business, provided bio-naphtha, and Mitsubishi Corporation is responsible for overall management.
