うみっ子健診とは
宇美町では、将来の生活習慣病発症予防を目的に、町独自の取組「うみっ子健診」を、小学5年生及び中学2年生を対象に実施しています。こどもの肥満や食生活の変化が課題となっている昨今、こどもの将来の健康が危惧されます。児童生徒が、うみっ子健診を通して自身の身体を知り、結果説明を通して家庭での生活習慣を見直し、さらに学校との連携を通して食や健康について学び、考える機会になっています。

宇美町の特徴～食育・減塩啓発を組み合わせた取り組み～
うみっ子健診は、町の健康課題である高血圧を早期から予防する取組みでもあります。健診結果の確認にとどまらず、腎臓を守るための塩分の摂り方や丈夫な血管、健康な身体を作るための食生活について考える機会としても力を入れています。
学校の授業等を通じて食品に含まれる塩分量を学び、食の選択ができる力を育むことを目指しています。また、健診結果説明を受けた児童生徒には、減塩を身近に感じてもらう学習の一環として、減塩商品を配布しています。
