Toy-Factory Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kani City, Gifu Prefecture; President and CEO: Akinobu Fujii), the top domestic manufacturer in terms of production volume of Hiace-based campers, announces a temporary change to its new order system for Hiace-based campers effective July 1, 2026.
Previously, the company procured base vehicles and handled the entire process from camper conversion to delivery. Going forward, the company will transition to a "customer-supplied chassis" model, where customers arrange and deliver their own base vehicles for conversion and delivery.
This change is driven by the ongoing nationwide uncertainty in delivery timelines and supply forecasts for the Toyota Hiace Camper Special Equipment vehicles, which the company uses as base models, with no clear outlook expected through the end of June in the 8th year of Reiwa (2026).
Hiace supply shortages have persisted across the market for several years, significantly impacting the camper industry. In particular, the super-long, wide-body, high-roof variants that serve as the base for Toy-Factory’s core models remain in extremely limited supply, making it difficult to meet demand.
Despite continuous efforts to secure base vehicles, Toy-Factory has prioritized delivering vehicles to customers as quickly as possible, leading to this temporary shift in order processing. This measure aims to advance delivery opportunities rather than wait for supply conditions to normalize.
Moving forward, customers will purchase eligible base vehicles through local Toyota dealerships and bring them to Toy-Factory for camper conversion and final delivery.
Eligible Vehicles
Target models include:
・BADEN
・CORDOBA CRUISE
・GT
・BALEIA
Eligible base vehicles are:
・Toyota Hiace Camper Special Equipment
・Hiace Van DX
・Hiace Van DX GL Package
All must be super-long, wide-body, high-roof variants.
Please note that specific full model codes and manufacturer options are critical for successful camper conversion.
Customers are strongly advised to consult with Toy-Factory sales representatives or authorized dealers before finalizing contracts at Toyota dealerships. Our specialized staff will provide support, including compatibility verification.

Future Outlook
While continuing to use the Hiace as one of its primary base vehicles, Toy-Factory is also developing campers on diverse platforms such as the Fiat Ducato, and will continue broadening its business to meet diverse customer needs.
Campers expand lifestyle options—enabling quality time with family and pets, vacations, hobbies, and everyday comfort.
In recent years, they have also gained recognition for their role in disaster preparedness, serving as temporary living spaces during earthquakes or heavy rains, providing emergency power, and reducing the burden of evacuation—supporting citizens’ lives in emergencies.
The prolonged uncertainty in Hiace supply is not merely a product availability issue; it risks depriving customers of both everyday lifestyle enhancements and critical emergency preparedness. Toy-Factory will continue to flexibly adapt its delivery methods even amid unstable supply conditions.
Going forward, Toy-Factory remains committed to enabling customers to realize their ideal camper lifestyles through meticulous craftsmanship and reliable support, while also hoping for a stable supply environment for Hiace-based vehicles.
