Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (President: Hiroshi Kubota) and Gakusei Inc. (CEO: Ryosuke Matsubara) have started recruiting the first cohort of about 40 students for the 'Sustainable Scholarship' fund, using investment profits from fiscal 2025 as the resource.
This initiative includes participation from JRA System Service Co., Ltd., MUFG group companies, and various corporations and individuals. Individual scholarship systems are designed and managed based on the donors' preferences.
MUTB and Gakusei began joint consideration of this fund in 2024, and in April 2025, MUTB started managing the fund with over 1 billion yen, exceeding the initial target.
By starting the disbursement based on the investment gains of fiscal 2025, the model of 'generating scholarships through asset management' is now practically implemented in society.
Future Outlook: Through collaboration with Gakusei and expanding the donor base, MUTB aims to evolve scholarships from 'temporary aid' into 'sustainable social infrastructure.' By creating a society where young people do not have to give up their dreams for economic reasons, the project contributes to building a society where investment in the next generation circulates sustainably through asset management.
Comments from Participating Companies: - JRA System Service Co., Ltd. President Kazuhito Kimura: 'We strongly support the concept of sustainably supporting youth learning through investment profits. We are very happy that the door is finally opening for students after a year of fund management.'
Student Recruitment Pages: JRA System Service and MUTB have launched their respective recruitment pages. MUFG plans to follow.
