FARMER YOU Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Ayumi Tao), which connects sustainable food and the future of regions, has partnered with Little Darling Coffee Roasters (LDCR) in Minami Aoyama to launch the third edition of the ECHO COFFEE series: 'Rwanda Kilimbi Natural' from the Kirimbi region of Rwanda, starting today, June 8, 2026.
Following the first edition from Ethiopia and the second from Laos, this time, together with ORIGIN COUNTRIES, we deliver coffee from the Kirimbi region located in Nyabihfu District, Western Rwanda. Grown in the steep highlands of Rwanda, known as the 'Land of a Thousand Hills,' this coffee features the transparent fruity notes characteristic of African beans and a clear flavor that conveys the warmth of the producers. In this land that has experienced a sad history, coffee cultivation is now a hope for recovery, led mainly by women.
ECHO COFFEE embodies FARMER YOU's wish to 'echo' the thoughts of distant producing regions and consumer countries, fostering a mutually resonant relationship. This project supports everything from seedling distribution to infrastructure development such as water and communication, and partners with the local 'Muraho Trading Company' and 'ORIGIN COUNTRIES,' which continues to support the area even after the JICA project ended. Rather than mere 'support,' the aim is to build a sustainable relationship that strengthens the local economy by jointly improving quality and delivering fair value to the market.
In food sustainability, what matters is not one-sided charity but creating a cycle that enables the continuous production of good things. For Rwanda, the barista who visited the site expressed the 'presence of the makers' felt firsthand into the cup through careful roasting. Despite recent threats of heavy rain and floods, the passion of people sincerely pursuing quality. Tasting that cup means touching the time and landscape accumulated on the hills, and the story of the future they are weaving.
