Tourism Tropical North Queensland (Cairns, Queensland, Australia; CEO: Mark Olsen) exhibited a 'Cairns & Great Barrier Reef' booth at 'Marine Diving Fair 2026', Asia's largest diving event, held from April 3rd (Friday) to 5th (Sunday), 2026, at Sunshine City Bunka Kaikan Building in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, in collaboration with Tourism and Events Queensland and H.I.S.

At the exhibition booth, the allure of the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef was introduced through powerful videos and explanations by specialists. Furthermore, local tour operators visited Japan to directly present the latest tour information for diving, snorkeling, cruises, and more. Visitors had the opportunity to experience the charm of Cairns while envisioning concrete travel experiences. A dice challenge event, where participants could win diving cruises and other prizes, was also held, attracting many visitors.

Wakana and Mai Fukushima Sisters Share the Charms of the Great Barrier Reef

On the final day, April 5th (Sunday), Wakana and Mai Fukushima, Cairns Marathon Ambassadors and active TV personalities/runners, appeared on the Tourism Tropical North Queensland stage. During their talk show, they discussed the diverse attractions of Cairns—a fusion of sea, nature, food, and activities—including the appeal of diving in the Great Barrier Reef, as well as fishing, beach activities, uninhabited island tours, rafting experiences, and local gourmet foods such as craft beer.

Wakana Fukushima stated the following regarding her appearance: "While the event mainly focused on the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is truly full of charm, a wonderful place where you can have new experiences every time you visit. It is the closest part of Australia to Japan, easy to visit with only about a one-hour time difference, and its year-round warm climate is another delightful point. Embraced by two World Heritage sites, I really want many people to visit Cairns to have wonderful experiences where they can discover a new self."

Mai Fukushima stated the following: "For me, who loves trail running and craft beer, Cairns is the best place. You can be active in magnificent scenery and nature, interact with animals, and after a full day of playing, enjoy local gourmet food that can only be found in Cairns. With the convenience of direct flights from Japan, it's highly recommended for both those who want to enjoy actively and those who want to relax.
