TSP Taiyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Kago Ikezawa) has announced its sponsorship of the '2nd National High School Mahjong Championship' as an Event Growth Partner. The company will be responsible for setting up the match venue for the national tournament.

The tournament, hosted by The Asahi Shimbun Company (President and Representative Director/CEO: Katsu Tsunoda), will hold preliminaries in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka in July 2026, followed by the national tournament in Tokyo in August to determine the high school champion of Japan.

Created by The Asahi Shimbun in 2025 in response to the growing number of young people engaging in competitive Mahjong following the development of the professional 'M-League', the inaugural tournament last summer saw 572 participants from 286 teams across 180 schools.

For the second tournament, parts of the semifinals and the finals will be broadcast live on 'ABEMA Mahjong Channel'. Furthermore, The Asahi Shimbun, in collaboration with the newly sponsoring Kawaijuku Group, will begin exploring how Mahjong, as a sophisticated mind sport, contributes to the learning and growth of high school students.

Preliminaries will be held at N High School Group campuses in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, and the national tournament will feature both official app-based matches and real-life matches using automated tables.
