As part of a revival screening project by Filmarks, one of Japan's largest review services for movies, dramas, and anime, the 20th-anniversary screening of director Mamoru Hosoda's masterpiece "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" will start on Friday, July 3, 2026. As a further anniversary initiative, it has been decided that a limited two-week "4DX screening" and a "35mm film screening" will be held starting Friday, August 21.

Time-leap with Makoto! Experience "that summer" in 4DX

Following the 4K version screening from July 3, the 4DX screening will start on Friday, August 21. (*This will be a 4DX screening using 4K source material.)

In addition to the seats moving (up/down, front/back, left/right) in sync with the protagonist Makoto's dynamic time leaps, sensory effects such as blowing wind, water (mist), and scents will be added. Please come and experience "the youth of that summer" together at the theater!

Furthermore, exclusive admission gifts, only available for the 4DX screening, will be distributed. Details will be announced at a later date.

"35mm film screening" held with the original texture

Additionally, a 35mm film screening using the film from the original release has also been decided! The screening theaters are Shin-Bungeiza (screening from Aug 27 to Aug 31) and Motomachi Eigakan (date to be determined).
