This event, first launched in 2023, has welcomed over 20,000 visitors cumulatively and takes the form of a masked café without baristas. This year, under the theme 'Even Summer Coffee Has Delicious Individuality,' it will offer a total of 45 iced coffee menu items by combining 15 types of black coffee with five customizations, including soda, milk, and fruit. Background: The 'Barista-Free Café' That Created Lines Returns This Year

Since 2023, this event has been held as a summer-limited experience to showcase the appeal of UCC's proprietary capsule-style drip coffee system, 'Drip Pod,' which allows anyone to enjoy authentic coffee flavor at home with just the push of a button. The 'secret' behind extracting high-quality iced coffee lies in the 'Drip Pod' system, which features UCC's independently developed extraction mechanism that replicates professional hand-drip techniques.

The café gained popularity on social media for being 'authentic despite having no barista' and for offering a rich lineup of coffee by origin, attracting over 20,000 visitors in the past three years. It drew such significant attention that lines formed even before opening.

Challenges Revealed by Survey: 'Limited Choices for Iced Coffee'

According to a consumer awareness survey on iced coffee conducted by UCC in April this year※1, while 86.2% of habitual coffee drinkers reported consuming iced coffee at least once a week during summer, challenges were revealed: 'drinking methods are mostly limited to black or café au lait' and 'satisfaction with iced coffee is lower than with hot coffee.' At the same time, demand for 'trying new variations' is high. Through this event, we aim to propose a new way to enjoy summer iced coffee more freely and conveniently, with authentic flavor.

All 45 Varieties of Iced Coffee with Rich Individuality—New Additions Include 'Yogurt Coffee' and 'Flavor' Category

In its fourth year, to allow guests to enjoy iced coffee's individuality more freely and personally, this year's event offers 15 types of authentic black coffee, combined with five customizations—soda, milk, fruit, yogurt, and 'flavor'—to provide a total of 45 iced coffee experiences.

Among them, 'Yogurt Coffee,' made with yogurt co-developed with UCC Coffee Academy (a specialized coffee education institution that systematically trains everyone from beginners to professionals), and 'Flavor' category coffee, which uses ingredients like tea and mirin not typically used in coffee variations to enhance coffee aroma, make their debut at 'Himitsu no Drip.' We also offer innovative variations that redefine the concept of iced coffee.

Furthermore, beyond the 'Himitsu no Drip' event in Omotesando, Tokyo, we are collaborating with famous cafés and fruit parlors to offer a wider range of iced coffee variations. Original iced coffee menus using 'Drip Pod' have been co-developed with each venue, leveraging their unique characteristics.

Through these initiatives, Drip Pod will continue to propose experiences that allow people to enjoy summer iced coffee more freely and discover their favorite personalized cup.
