About 'Tim Ho Wan'
Tim Ho Wan was founded in 2009 in Hong Kong by Mak Kwai Pui, former dim sum chef at Lung King Heen—the Cantonese restaurant at Hong Kong's Four Seasons Hotel that earned four consecutive Michelin three-star ratings—alongside partner Leung Fai Keung. Driven by the philosophy of making authentic dim sum flavors accessible and part of everyday dining, the restaurant quickly gained acclaim.
Praised as a place where guests can enjoy hotel-quality cuisine at everyday prices, Tim Ho Wan earned a Michelin one-star rating in 2010 and was dubbed 'the world's cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant.' Today, it has become a globally renowned destination, attracting international visitors to Hong Kong. The brand now operates across Asia—including Hong Kong and Taiwan—and in Australia, with locations in the U.S. (New York, Texas, Las Vegas, and Hawaii) operated by WDI GROUP.
In Japan, the first outlet opened in 2018 as the 'Hibiya Store.' The 'Tokyo Dome City LaQua Store' opened in 2023, followed by the first Kansai location, the 'Umeda Chayamachi Store,' in 2024, and the first Chiba location, 'LaLaport TOKYO-BAY Store,' in 2025. All locations remain extremely popular, consistently drawing long lines and becoming culinary landmarks in Tokyo.
All dim sum served is made from original recipes and carefully handmade in each store's kitchen. The menu includes categories such as steamed, fried, rice noodle rolls, congee, zongzi, vegetables, and desserts. The signature 'Baked Char Siu Bao,' also known as the 'Char Siu Melon Bun,' is ordered by nearly every guest and remains a must-try dish.
