Global e-commerce platform Temu has significantly strengthened its intellectual property protection measures over the past year, expanding the number of proactive monitoring target brands from over 5,000 last year to over 15,000. Additionally, the ratio of items self-detected and deleted by Temu to those deleted based on rights holder reports has increased to 331:1, up from approximately 200:1 last year.
Temu's "2026 Intellectual Property Rights Protection Report" covers the period from June 2025 to May 2026 and summarizes Temu's efforts to protect intellectual property rights on its platform and the results of various measures.
Key achievements in the report:
● Temu's proactive monitoring database now covers over 15,000 brands, a significant expansion from over 5,000 last year.
● The number of items self-detected and deleted by Temu has reached 331 times the number of items deleted based on rights holder reports, an increase from approximately 200 times last year.
● A detection database containing over 47 million images and over 9.5 million keywords has been built, with the monitoring range for image data expanded by more than nine times compared to last year.
● Intellectual property rights-related case reports are resolved within an average of 24 hours.
● During the reporting period, Temu collaborated with over 130 industry associations, approximately double the number from last year.
Temu combines its proprietary detection technology with a review system staffed by experts to preemptively detect and swiftly remove items that may infringe on rights. Early detection and response, in particular, help reduce the burden of intellectual property rights protection for small and medium-sized enterprises and brands that lack specialized intellectual property management systems.
A Temu spokesperson stated:
"Temu prioritizes preventing intellectual property rights infringement before harm occurs to rights holders. This report demonstrates Temu's efforts to further improve its protection measures through proactive detection and removal of potentially infringing items, swift response to case reports, and continuous collaboration with brands."
Comprehensive protection measures at each stage
Temu conducts rigorous reviews starting from the stage when sellers join the platform and list their products.
Over the past year, more than 40% of new store applicants failed to meet identity verification or review criteria and were not registered. Additionally, over 16,000 stores were closed for repeated intellectual property rights violations.
Furthermore, all product listing information is cross-referenced with a detection database containing over 47 million images and over 9.5 million keywords before publication, and continuous monitoring is conducted after publication.
Additionally, Temu has introduced consumer education functions in all markets.
When searching for related keywords such as "counterfeit," "imitations," and "fake goods," search results are hidden, and a warning message about the risks of purchasing counterfeit goods is displayed. This function blocks over 80,000 related searches per day.
Strengthening collaboration with brands and businesses
Through the "Brand Guardian Initiative (BGI)" launched in April 2024, Temu collaborates with brands to reflect trademark and other intellectual property information in the platform's monitoring system.
This enables earlier detection of items that may infringe on rights.
Currently, BGI directly collaborates with over 3,000 brands, approximately 500 of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. Participating brands are provided with individual support and regular response performance data, and Temu supports their intellectual property protection efforts regardless of whether they are selling on Temu. Additionally, Temu provides intellectual property compliance education for sellers through the Seller Education Center.
Strengthening collaboration with the intellectual property community
Over the past year, Temu has collaborated with over 130 intellectual property-related organizations, approximately double the number from last year.
In April 2026, Temu joined the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) and further developed its activities in the organization's Marketplace Advisory Council, which it had previously participated in.
Temu also collaborates with various national and regional intellectual property-related organizations, such as the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the French Anti-Counterfeiting Association (UNIFAB).
A Temu spokesperson stated:
"To realize a healthy marketplace, a robust intellectual property protection system is essential. Our efforts protect the rights of legitimate brands, create an environment where consumers can purchase goods with confidence, and enhance trust in the marketplace. We will continue to invest in personnel, technology, and partnerships to build an even more robust protection system."
