Overview Workday, Inc., a provider of enterprise AI platforms for HR, finance, and agents, announced that Hoshino Resorts has begun full-scale operation of its HR management system, centered on Workday Human Capital Management (Workday HCM), in April 2026. By doing so, Hoshino Resorts is building a unified HR foundation across the group to promote a work environment where diverse talent can thrive and to advance talent management.
Background Hoshino Resorts, founded in 1914 in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, is a resort operator with the theme of "making travel enjoyable." It operates 76 facilities, primarily under six unique brands including "HOSHINOYA," "KAI," "RISONARE," "OMO," "BEB," and "LUCY." With approximately 8,000 employees across multiple locations, the company targets reaching a 10,000-employee scale by 2030, maintaining a flat organizational culture that emphasizes frontline autonomy.
Purpose of Implementation As the company expanded and workstyles diversified, its traditional HR systems—developed and managed in-house individually—relied on manual patches, Excel, and tribal knowledge. In response, Hoshino Resorts initiated the construction of a platform to centralize personnel data and create an environment where diverse talent can play a more proactive role.
Specific Initiatives Workday HCM is being adopted as the group-wide HR management platform to centralize personnel data, such as employee information, organizational structures, transfer history, and unit affiliations. This infrastructure supports planned talent allocation and development across brands and locations.
Moving forward, the company plans to strengthen links with attendance and payroll management systems and expand analysis capabilities to further visualize talent information and advance talent management.
Comments Ayumu Sano, Group Director of the HR Group at Hoshino Resorts, stated, "Unifying personnel data using Workday is a fundamental step in building a flat organizational culture. We intend to continue advancing personnel planning and talent allocation based on data."
