Workman Hosts Heatwave Experience Event for Cooling Apparel

Workman is setting up a 'Heatwave Experience Corner' at its Tokyo headquarters starting June 10, aimed at demonstrating the efficacy of its 'wearable freezer' Peltier semiconductor cooling vests against extreme heat (over 40°C). The setup uses large panels with halogen lights to recreate harsh 45°C environmental conditions.

According to the Japan Weather Association's 'tenki.jp,' record temperatures were already being set in mid-May. With temperatures expected to rise again starting around May 24, demand for Workman's 'heat countermeasures products' is trending 70% higher than last year.

Following record-breaking temperatures of 41.8°C in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture, last year, Workman has prioritized developing gear capable of handling 45°C. Peltier cooling vests, which use cooling plates, are the 'trump card' for such temperatures. After facing supply shortages last summer, the company is planning a production run of 250,000 units this year, approximately 2.5 times last year's volume.

Two Advanced Direct-Cooling Vest Models

The improved cooling efficacy has been validated in collaboration with Professor Emeritus Kei Nagashima of Waseda University.
