Yamada Denki Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, President: Takeji Sano, hereinafter referred to as Yamada Denki), a member of the Yamada Holdings Group, will begin regularly implementing 'Quiet Hour' at 3 new stores in Kanagawa Prefecture and 19 stores in Gunma Prefecture starting July 7, 2026 (Tue) to ensure that individuals with sensory sensitivities can shop with peace of mind.
Yamada Denki has been regularly implementing 'Quiet Hour' at some stores in Kanagawa Prefecture on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month since May 2023. Now, with the desire to further raise awareness of social issues and contribute to creating an environment where everyone can spend time comfortably, the initiative will be expanded to Gunma Prefecture. Furthermore, by implementing 'Quiet Hour' every Tuesday at stores in Kanagawa Prefecture, more customers will be able to shop in a quieter store environment.
Sensory Sensitivity and Quiet Hour
Sensory sensitivity is a condition often seen in individuals with developmental disabilities, but because it is a characteristic originating in the brain, it is a trait that can affect anyone. Individuals may become overexcited, extremely fatigued, or feel uncomfortable due to stimuli such as sounds, lights, or smells.
'Quiet Hour' is an initiative that adjusts the in-store environment to alleviate overlapping sounds and light stimuli temporarily, with consideration for those with sensory sensitivities.
