Yamato Denki Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Toshihiko Saito, hereinafter "the Company") has introduced two units of the energy-saving device "Ecomo," sold by Satsuki Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Satsuki Building, 4-10-29 Chuo-ku, Osaka, Representative Director: Yojiro Sofue, hereinafter "Satsuki") at its Utsunomiya Plant.

In recent years, rising energy costs, including electricity, have become a major management challenge for the manufacturing industry. While our company has already introduced and is operating solar power generation facilities and has continuously implemented existing energy-saving measures, we will now work towards further energy conservation and sustainable business operations by combining them with the energy-saving device "Ecomo" provided by Satsuki.

[Background of Business Partnership]

The Company has continuously promoted energy-saving measures in existing facilities, such as the utilization of power management systems, and has proceeded with the introduction and operation of solar power generation facilities. Furthermore, as part of our company-wide policy to promote capital investment that contributes to the creation of stable future cash flows, and in conjunction with the timing for considering the utilization of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Management Strengthening Tax System (immediate depreciation), we have now introduced the energy-saving device "Ecomo."

[Overview of Next-Generation Power Saving Unit "Ecomo"]

"Ecomo," a next-generation power-saving unit, is a product that attaches to the power transformer of factories and facilities. It utilizes new technology, for which a patent was obtained in 2018 under the name "Power Improvement Device," enabling energy saving for the entire factory. It has a track record of over 2,300 installations, including many designated energy management factories. By reducing loss, it achieves 5-15% energy savings and is a safe, long-life product that can be used with peace of mind. Currently, it is possible to achieve "immediate depreciation" of the Ecomo acquisition cost in the first year as productivity improvement equipment under the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Management Strengthening Tax System.

[Expected Effects]

This introduction is expected to reduce electricity consumption in the power system of the Utsunomiya Plant. Pre-installation simulations have indicated a certain level of reduction effect in the target transformer system, and it is expected to contribute to the reduction of electricity costs and CO2 emissions throughout the year.

[Comments from Stakeholders]

Hideyuki Hirade, Managing Director and Utsunomiya Plant Manager, Yamato Denki Co., Ltd.

The environment surrounding the manufacturing industry is undergoing significant changes, including soaring energy prices and the need to address environmental load reduction. Amidst this, the Utsunomiya Plant has continuously pursued energy-saving activities and the utilization of solar power generation facilities. By introducing "Ecomo," we aim to further reduce electricity consumption and improve costs, leading to competitive plant operations.

Furthermore, efforts towards energy conservation are not merely about cost reduction but are also important themes that contribute to society as a whole, such as reducing CO2 emissions. Moving forward, we aim to be a plant that contributes to the local community and our customers through sustainable manufacturing.

Hisamitsu Tsuru, General Manager, Environmental Solutions Business Division, Satsuki Co., Ltd.

We are truly grateful that Yamato Denki has chosen to adopt "Ecomo." Yamato Denki, as a company handling wiring devices, possesses deep knowledge of electricity, and we are extremely pleased that they have evaluated "Ecomo" on that basis. We understand that tax incentives will also be utilized for the introduction of "Ecomo," and we will provide full support in that regard. We will strive to assist Yamato Denki in their decarbonization management.
