Collaboration with Sanseido Bookstore! 8 Comedians from Tokyo Mangeki Theater Select 'The One Book That Influenced My Life'

Jimbocho Yoshimoto Manzai Theater and Sanseido Bookstore Jimbocho Main Store have teamed up to further energize the Jimbocho area. Following the renovation of the Sanseido main store in March 2026, they will offer a 'new way to enjoy the town,' leveraging their proximity of just a one-minute walk.

As the first phase of this partnership, the 'Comedians Seriously Select: The One Book That Influenced My Life' project will be held from June 1 (Mon) to June 30 (Tue), 2026.

Embodying the bookstore's concept, 'A bookstore where walking expands your world,' eight comedians from the theater will carefully select books that have supported their values and lives. They will introduce these 'serious' picks—books encountered at the roots of their comedy or at turning points in their lives—along with handwritten POP displays filled with their thoughts.

This project aims to bridge the gap between the younger generation's 'drift away from printed media' and the reading audience's 'lack of theater experience,' creating a new cultural experience where fans of both can intersect. Starting with this project, they plan to continue initiatives that combine 'books' and 'laughter' to further enhance the Jimbocho brand.

The participating comedians are Hara (Universe), Sasuke (Takioto), Junpei Hamada (Kabe Poster), Yoshino Oinari-kun (Mezon), Tomoyuki Minowa (Kingyo Bancho), Yuta Waki (Zero Karan), Momiji (Kyodai), and Horikoshi (Nayuta). This is a rare opportunity unique to Jimbocho to see a deeper, more intellectual side of these comedians, different from their glamorous stage personas.
