YUASA CO., LTD. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroyuki Tamura) participated in the TKB48 (*1) evacuation drill held in Kumamoto City, providing flat-pack medical containers.

*1 About TKB48

A disaster prevention concept that aims to achieve zero disaster-related deaths by installing toilets (T), meals (K), and beds (B) within 48 hours of a disaster (= "TKB48") and establishing a system to provide warm meals and other support to evacuees.

[Evacuation Drill in Kumamoto City]

As a milestone marking 10 years since the Kumamoto earthquake, the TKB48 evacuation drill hosted by Kumamoto City was held at Aqua Dome Kumamoto for two days, from Saturday, May 16 to Sunday, May 17. This drill simulated an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 6+ to 7 centered on Kumamoto City, aiming to establish sanitary, meal, and sleeping environments within 48 hours and provide a comfortable environment for participants. It was also the first nationwide attempt to assume wide-area cooperation across prefectural borders for transporting supplies and equipment.

In this drill, with approximately 150 participants, YUASA provided flat-pack medical containers. The containers were actually set up and operated as clinics, serving as a demonstration site for ensuring rapid medical environments during disasters.

[Flat-Pack Medical Container]

This solution is a medical container intended for use as an alternative to hospital facilities.

It is a foldable unit house that can be set up in about 30 minutes per unit, highlighting its mobility. Inside, examination beds and negative pressure equipment are installed, enabling rapid medical system construction in disaster areas. Additionally, since it can be rented, supply volume can be adjusted as needed, and it was actually introduced during the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

During the drill, medical flow training from triage to treatment was conducted inside the containers by participants playing roles of doctors and patients.

YUASA will continue to contribute to the rapid and high-quality development of evacuation environments during disasters, aiming to realize a "resilient and sustainable society."
