Zeon Corporation (Zeon) has invested in Sanctuary AI, a Canadian advanced robotics company, through its CVC subsidiary Zeon Ventures Inc., and has commenced technical collaboration. This partnership will accelerate the development of new materials for the robotics field.
Sanctuary AI is developing general-purpose humanoid robots and is conducting pilot tests for deployment across various industrial sectors. Their unique system, which combines high-precision tactile sensing and manipulation capability via compact hydraulic actuators with their proprietary physical AI, is globally recognized as a foundation for next-generation industrial automation.
For the commercialization of industrial robot hands, materials that balance tactile-level precision with the durability required for industrial use are essential. The Zeon Group will support Sanctuary AI's product development by leveraging its elastomer material technology and testing/evaluation capabilities. This initiative aims to capture new material demands in the robotics field and strengthen the company's future business portfolio.
Under its mid-term management plan, 'STAGE30,' Zeon has designated 'Mobility,' 'Healthcare & Life Science,' 'Information & Communication,' and 'GX' as its four growth pillars, aiming to increase their revenue ratio. Zeon will continue to contribute to a sustainable society by providing new materials and developing new applications.
