The Sail Training Ship "BLUE OCEAN Mirai," operated by Zeri Japan (Location: Kobe City, Representative: Yusuke Kakeya), has begun accepting applications for two sailing voyages departing from Yokohama Port: one to Ito from August 1, 2026 (Sat) to August 7, 2026 (Fri), and another to Tateyama from August 16, 2026 (Sun) to August 23, 2026 (Sun).
"Mirai" is Japan's only* private training sailing ship that accepts the general public as "trainees" to participate in authentic sailing voyages. During regular voyages, participants engage in various activities related to actual sailing operations under the guidance of the crew, such as deploying and stowing sails, rope work, lookout duty, steering, and watch duty.
The experience of reading the wind and moving the ship in cooperation with crewmates is a unique learning opportunity offered by sailing ships and is one of the marine education and human resource development activities that "Mirai" values.
Unlike typical cruise trips, participants become members of the crew, learn sail handling and chart reading, and share life aboard a sailing ship.
This time, the voyages will depart from Yokohama Port and sail to the destinations of Ito or Tateyama Port, with the sailing route determined according to the wind and sea conditions. Please enjoy the unique experience of the "Mirai" sailing ship while savoring the exhilaration of sailing solely by the power of the wind and the sense of accomplishment from working together to move the ship.
At the end of each voyage, participants will find the "Anjin Festival," a representative summer event, in Ito (for the August 1-7 voyage), and the Tateyama Evening Sun Pier, known for its beautiful sunsets, in Tateyama (for the August 16-23 voyage).
*According to our own research (April 2026. For Japanese-flagged large sailing vessels - sailing vessels with a total length of 40m or more).
